Teeth Whitening

Teeth come in many different shades, and yours may not be as white as you’d like. Or maybe your teeth used to be whiter but habits such as smoking or tobacco use have stained them. Eating certain foods and beverages can also cause staining. Even aging can have an impact on the color of your teeth.

If you are dissatisfied with teeth that are stained or yellowed, perhaps it’s time to do something about it. Why go through life hiding your smile behind your hand or avoiding showing your smile altogether? A white, bright smile can give your self-confidence a boost and take years off your appearance like nothing else.

Call Dr. Tony Pilgrim at Fall Creek Dental, and find out how this safe and effective procedure can make your smile dramatically whiter!

Why Professional Teeth Whitening?

You have probably seen advertisements for many over-the-counter whitening treatments. There is no shortage of kits, strips, toothpastes, or mouthwashes that claim to whiten teeth. Although most of these treatments will help get rid of surface stains on the teeth, they are simply not as effective as professional whitening.

If the whitening kit comes with applicator trays, these one-size-fits-all apparatuses may not fit properly because they were not custom-made for your teeth. Often these trays leak because the trays are ill-fitting, meaning the whitening gel gets onto the gums and soft tissues of your mouth, leading to irritation.

Professional teeth whitening will make your teeth several shades whiter and brighter. You will walk out of the dentist's office with teeth several shades whiter than when you walked in. And when you use our take-home bleaching system, your white smile will last even longer.

How Does Professional Teeth Whitening Work?

Prior to whitening, Dr. Pilgrim will recommend a professional cleaning. He will also examine you to make sure your teeth and gums are healthy.

When you come in for the whitening procedure, he will use a whitening gel with a high concentration of peroxide. Even the most stubborn stains will be eliminated with this high-concentration gel.

The treatment takes just about an hour. This includes about 15 minutes of preparation time, and then the whitening process itself takes about 45 minutes. You can schedule the appointment over your lunch break!

If you prefer, you can ask for our take-home whitening kit, which you will use over a period of several days. Results will be just as dramatic, but they won’t be as quick.

Dr. Pilgrim also recommends the at-home kit for follow-up treatments after the in-office procedure. You can refresh the whitening to keep your teeth whiter for a longer period of time.
