Fall Creek Dental
A Great Dentist

Technology

At Fall Creek Dental, we believe in offering our patients modern dental care of the utmost quality. As part of that effort, we stay current with the latest in dental technology to make your visit as efficient and comfortable as possible. High-tech dentistry usually means less invasive procedures—and less time that our patients need to spend in the dental chair.

Here are some of the ways we use technology in our office to provide our patients with a better experience.

Digital Radiographs

X-rays are an important part of preventive dentistry. But traditional x-rays were cumbersome and slow. Digital radiography has not only sped up the x-ray process, but they also emit less radiation for increased safety. Our office is using a new technology called computer digital radiography (CDR), which gives off 90 percent less radiation than traditional x-rays.

With digital x-rays, you and your dentist are able to view images immediately, right on the screen in our treatment room. The images are easily enhanced for more precise viewing. In fact, CDR images can be enlarged up to 400 times.

The convenience of digital images means results can be easily and quickly emailed to specialists or your insurance company, meaning less delay in treatment.

Intraoral Camera

X-rays are an invaluable part of dentistry when it comes to spotting issues your dentist can’t see with a regular examination. And the intraoral camera adds another level of thoroughness.

These tiny cameras, about the size of a dental instrument, see the nooks and crannies of your mouth that even x-rays can’t capture. They provide a full-color image that can be shown instantly on a computer screen. Your dentist can point out specific areas of interest, and you will be able to see them in real time, adding to your level of understanding when it comes to your oral health and any recommended treatments.

Panoramic X-Rays

Beyond the digital x-ray and intraoral camera, a panoramic x-ray adds another perspective altogether because it creates a flat image. With this type of x-ray, your dentist will be able to see beyond what is seen in a digital x-ray, including the temporomandibular joints, and nasal and sinus cavities. The panoramic x-ray is just one more way your dentist can analyze the current state of your mouth.

CariVu Camera

This compact device uses transillumination technology to identify dental decay in its earliest form. When used along with a digital radiograph and an intraoral camera, we can obtain the most comprehensive picture of your tooth to plan treatment.

Ultrasonic Scaler

Our ProSelect Scaler utilizes ultrasonic waves and warm antibacterial solution to clean our patients' teeth. Ultrasonic waves help to break down calculus, minimizing the need for scraping with manual tools.

Ultrasonic waves are also known to kill bacteria on contact. For additional protection, warm antibacterial solution is delivered below the gum line, where bacteria colonize, and disinfects the area to promote faster healing. Using warm solution from a self-contained reservoir minimizes patient sensitivity and prevents possible water line contamination.

Rotary Endodontics

Root canals are one of the most feared procedures in dentistry, but modern techniques make this common treatment just as easy as getting a filling.

Rotary endodontics utilize an updated instrument that makes it easier than ever to remove infection from the root of the tooth. The entire process is more comfortable than ever for patients.

Digital Records with Computers in Each Treatment Area

Once only found at the front desk, computers have been making their way back into patient treatment areas over the past few years. All patient records are now computerized, meaning your appointments can be scheduled and your questions answered while you are in the treatment room. There is no need for an extra stop at the front desk.

We are pleased to use the Dentrix computer system, which not only saves trees because we are essentially paperless but also improves efficiency. We can document your dental condition, treatment recommendations, insurance coverage, dental x-rays, and more. In addition, we can print a copy of the record if you would like for your future reference.

Our computer system allows us to handle insurance billing as well as verify benefits and eligibility in a more streamlined fashion. We can access a wealth of information online while going over treatment options to provide our patients with on-the-spot education.

Your security is important to us, With our paperless dentistry system, your medical records stay private under digital lock and key.

Velscope

When you come in for an examination, Dr. Pilgrim will do a visual check to see if there are any signs of oral cancer. Your x-rays will also be examined for any signs of tumors or other irregularities. We also use a powerful device called a Velscope to check for issues. A Velscope lets us see problems in their earliest stages through the use of fluorescent patterns.
